Passenger Dies after Car Crashes into Tree

HOUSTON - A teen has died as the result of a car accident in southwest Houston.

The accident took place at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday at the 4100 block of Beran Drive.

Investigators say Ana Cecilia Claros, 17, was one of three passengers in a red Mazda traveling eastbound on Beran Drive when she layed her head on the driver's right shoulder and arm, causing him to become distracted. The driver lost control of the car and struck a tree.

The driver, two other passengers and Claros were taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but Claros was later pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
