I recently just bought the Canoscan FS2710 scanner after spending some time
in the store playing with both the Canoscan 2710 and the Minolta Scan Speed. I've also had extensive experience with the Nikon LS-2000. The Canoscan scans at 36-bit and can also output into Photoshop at 36-bit. It has a dmax of 3.2, though lower than 3.6 on the Minolta and Nikon, doesn't produce a significant difference in shadow details. I did some shadow details comparison between the scans made with the Minolta and ones made with the Canon. In some cases, I want to say the Minolta produces a little more shadow details (not very noticeable); however, in some cases, it also seems that scans made with Canon has a little bit more shadow details (again, not very noticeable). Scanning speeds for the Canon and Minolta on a PowerMac with 256mb RAM were similar, and definitely faster than the Nikon ls-2000, which was hooked up to a PowerMac G3 with only 128mb of RAM. So I would say the amount of memory you have is more important in determining the scanning speed.

The Nikon ls-2000 does have an advantage in terms of the dust removal software, and the multi-scanning capability. However, by using all those functionalities, the amount of time you add to each slide is significant. Without using those functions, the scans produce by the ls-2000 is only at best similar the the scans produce by the Canon and Minolta. A lot of people rave about the dust removal function, but from my experience, in the time it takes to scan with the dust removal function turned on, I can easily clean my slide with compressed air, and remove any dust left in Photoshop. Once again, I suspect that if you have more than 256 mb of RAM in your "Ultra Fast" computer, the scanning time added with dust removal turned on might not be significant, but most people don't have 256 mb of RAM in their computers.

At the end, cost was also a big factor. You can buy the Canoscan from Tri-State (where I bought mine from) for $609, and it comes with a SCSI card and an APS adapter. Although the APS adapter is useless for me and for a lot of people, hey, at least it's included. If you get the Minolta or Nikon, you'll need to spend hundreds of dollars just to get the APS adapter if you ever need it. The cheapest Minolta Scan Speed (with SCSI card) I could find is around $850, and the cheapest Nikon ls-2000 is around $1550. So your choice. For me, I didn't want to pay $250 extra for the Minolta to get something that's not really an improvement over the Canoscan, and I certainly didn't want to pay $1000 extra for the Nikon's multi-scanning and dust removal capabilities. Oh, and I don't really need the batch scanning options of the Minolta and Nikon, which once again are expensive accessories you have to buy. If I ever have some really nice, yet "difficult", slides that I have to scan to extract every single shadow detail, I would probably want to take it for either a drum scan or a pro photo-cd scan anyways.

您在新浪的图我看过，有差别，但基本上可以不介意了。因为在暗处，LS30是有细节，但只
是很粗的细节，信息量已经很少，细看也看不出名堂来。

我亲手试过2710和NIKON LS30。扫同一张底片。
暗部表现和颜色表现都有明显区别。曾经帖在新浪调色板上。

2710比LS30都明显不如，更别说LS2000了。

不知道别人的是哪里造的，我的的确是MADE IN
SINGAPORE。

美能达的dual是它最低档的个人底扫，港币2900，我四月份刚买下。你说的那个贵的
是它的顶级，multi，一看这名字就知道是从上往下疯狂兼容的。

俺认为买个HP S20最合你的要求，又便宜，又能扫5X7
照片，挺好！虽然素质不如NIKON LSXXX，反正F3HP
不是说了嘛，再好的扫瞄仪也比不上最烂的镜头，这点
很重要！您要好的吗？DRUM SCANNER才算好呢！买得
起吗？所以俺最后决定买S20，俺买这S20才花了3000人
民币，只是LS-30的一半价钱，省下的钱可以买镜头去了，

这些个都是比较高分辨力的个人用底扫. 我在美国没有朋友,否则$355的
HP PhotoSmart S20xi是非常超值的!!!!因为HP作为计算机设备卖,而且此
扫描仪还能扫5*7的print.

国内我希望能买到Acer ScanWit 2720S, 这个除了不能扫APS之外,和Canon
在硬件性能上也没有什么两样,标配软件差点,可以选用第三方的优秀软件,
我想如果有货应该5000以内.

买个带翻拍功能的数码机不就完了！（前提是你的用途是网站应用）
富士有，大约6000－7000一个。好象德国的AGFA也有一款，不过价格就贵了。
除了翻拍底片，平时做数码机使也游刃有余了。

我在等他。

最近一直在PHOTO。NET上面乱转，感觉除了HP S20价格好外，就数2710了。而且2710非常
新，所以评测文章较少。据用过的人讲都非常满意。NIKON的好象有自动除尘功能，但因此价
格就上去了，而且速度会变慢许多。只要底片保持干净，没有太大的问题。
2710没有批量扫描功能，但是不久会有第三方软件提供这个功能。（其他的型号几乎都可以
用此第三方软件进行批扫了，佳能2710因为太新，开发者-在伦敦没有获得样机，所以没有提
供）
对于暗部的表现，据说实际相差的确不大（指LS2000和2710），完全没有必要在这个问题上
面费太大的劲。
我对2710越来越有有信心。不过前提是因为我没办法买到HP S20！否则我会考虑S20的。
