VC Unveils World's First Handheld 4K Camcorder

WAYNE, NJ (January 10, 2012) – JVC Professional Products Company, adivision of JVC Americas Corp., today announced the GY-HMQ10, theworld's first handheld 4K camcorder, which captures, records, and playsvideo images at four times the resolution of high definition television.Powered by JVC's Falconbrid large-scale integration (LSI) chip forhigh-speed signal processing and a 1/2-inch CMOS imager with 8.3 millionactive pixels, it delivers real-time 3840×2160 footage at 24p, 50p, or60p.

"We're witnessing the birth of what is destined to become a broadmarket for full 4K end-to-end production," said Edgar Shane, generalmanager of engineering. "The GY-HMQ10 is a breakthrough product thatopens up 4K imaging to users who previously wouldn't have consideredit."

High resolution 4K still picture imaging has been around for severalyears in DSLR cameras. Motion video capture with these cameras hasalways been done at a lower video resolution because of lack ofprocessing power. Likewise, high end digital motion picture cameras maycapture 4K images, but often provide a raw data output to an externalstorage array for later processing-again due to lack of processing powerin the camera. There just hasn't been the ability to capture, process,display and record full 4K images in real time until now.

JVC's exclusive Falconbrid LSI processing takes raw image data fromthe camera's CMOS device and dematrixes (deBayers) it in real time.Unlike many high end 4K cameras, the GY-HMQ10 is able to output 4Kimages to a monitor or projection system in real time with virtually nolatency. This capability opens up applications in cinematography,medical microscopy, telepresence, specialized observation /surveillance, and live wide-view event coverage.

Using MPEG-4 technology and a variable bit rate H.264 codec operatingat up to 144 Mbps, the GY-HMQ10 records up to two hours of 4K video toeconomical SDHC or SDXC memory cards.

In addition to 4K imaging, the GY-HMQ10 also captures and recordsastonishing 1080i or 1080/60p full HD, with extraordinary detailprovided by its 8.3 megapixel imager and superior lens. HD is recordedon a single memory card in a format compatible with most editingsystems. This combination of superb 4K and HD imaging was requested byattendees of JVC's 4K forums, conducted throughout North America lastyear, and is unique in the camera industry.

Another feature requested by forum attendees was the ability to cropan HD image from a 4K frame. This can be accomplished in postproduction, or in real time during camera playback. The "trimming"feature makes HD cropping easy using the camera's touch panel LCDmonitor.

Similar in size to JVC's popular GY-HM150 ProHD camcorder, theGY-HMQ10 includes a build-in F2.8 10x zoom lens with optical imagestabilizer, as well as a color viewfinder and 3.5-inch touch LCD monitorwith a new, intuitive user interface. The GY-HMQ10 is built in afamiliar, comfortable and lightweight form factor for hours of fieldproduction with minimum fatigue.

The GY-HMQ10 is equipped with manual level controls for audio, withaudio metering in the LCD and viewfinder displays. A microphone holderand two balanced XLR connectors with phantom power are located on thehandle. The camera is equipped with a built-in stereo mic for ambientsound pickup.

Other features include JVC's patented Focus Assist, as well as manualand auto control of focus, iris, gain, shutter, gamma, color matrix, andwhite balance. Plus, the camera has the unusual capability of live 4Koutput via four HDMI terminals.

"Historically, JVC has been a leader in camcorder and displaytechnology, and the GY-HMQ10 is our latest breakthrough," added Shane."It's part of a larger move at JVC to bring 4K technology to a widerange of customers." In September 2011, JVC introduced an affordableline of 4K projectors to the home theater market. The company's high-end4K projectors are widely used in commercial flight simulators andplanetariums. "4K is the logical step beyond HD," said Shane. "And JVCis uniquely positioned to lead the industry in this new direction."

JVC's innovative approach to professional 4K will be unveiled in aseries of industry announcements beginning at CES and continuingthroughout 2012.

JVC总搞虚的，图像质量那叫吭爹啊。当初JVC第一个搞出了720P摄像机，图像质量惨不忍睹。

1/2背照式CMOS， 830万像素，它的低照性能接近或等于3片CMOS的性能，
这点从JVC PX10和松下AC160、SONY EX1R的对比中能看出来，镜头广角还是个短板。

4K影像也是采用切割成4个1920X1080/60P， 每张SD卡记录1920X1080/60P AVCHD 36M格式，
观看时也是分成4组HDMI输出。
36M合拼成一个完整画面，36MX4=144M，这样做的好处就是后期好处理，不需要超高性能的电脑，
4K素材就当做是4段FULL HD素材处理。



1/2 CMOS 830万像素，注定在曝光宽容度和低照性能一般，唯一出色的是它的视频解晰度，
每一帧画面都能达到照片级别的解析度，这是目前百万级别的机子都做不到的（一些特殊高速摄影机除外），
啥叫真正逐行视频，看看JVC PX1和JVC PX10这两台装有Falconbird LSI 芯片的小机机视频就知道了，

4K 还是考虑 red算了现阶段

用来拍户外的派对、婚礼不错

西区对骚妮最宽容。

4K美元也买不到4K显示器，缺乏实用价值。

4K其实也没啥用。把HD做好就成啦。

1/2英寸单片传感器, 830万像素。 这灵敏度拍出来的东西除了噪点能有多少价值啊。总不见得一直用 ISO 100的照相灵敏度拍视频吧。

对于摄象机，其 0dB的原始 ISO至少在 ISO 450以上才将就能用用。一般来说最好是 0dB时有个 ISO 800的标准灵敏度比较好。

像 JVC这个单片 1/2英寸 830万像素的，我估计上个 ISO 400噪点已经很明显了。

4K视频机，我还是认为“小底”并不适合做，最起码要 2/3英寸以上的，像点样 4/3的。或者采用三片式设计，减少像素，通过空间像素的偏移的像素偏置来插。
