Slippery slope isn't it. The E60 50mm Lux is reputed as exceptional. However, from all appearances the Cv 58/1.4 performs, for all intensive purposes just as nicely. Caveat - I own the CV and have not shot with the e60. I base my comments on my experience with the 50 Summicron, CV 58, comments from fellow Leica shooters and the photozone tests of the E60 (on a Canon) and the CV. You MIGHT see a difference in IQ WO, but I'd hesitate to think it would be worth the massive price difference (CV $400 new, E60 $1600 used). The older 50/1.4s were nice, but only real difference over other fast 50s would be Leica color, maybe bokeh.

Part of the issue is the Leica die-hards are same as counterparts in Zeiss, etc land - tend to place fave brand above all others, so asking a Leica nut on the E60 vs CV (or a Zeiss dude on 50/2 ZF vs the CV) is often asking for screams of "blasphemer" ;>

Some long-winded thoughts (laid up with infected tooth, so bored silly...) that might help from having gotten to know the UPS guy far, far too well over the years. The MTFs for most of these are available from Leica :

19/2.8 Latest (bested only by 14-24G and 21ZF, but little distortion)
28mm/2.8 Latest (built-in square hood). Best 28mm ever made?
35/2. I liked the Mandler glow and sweet bokeh. Sharp but CV40 sharper WO
35/2.8 has nice rep for landscapes, but haven't shot with.
50/2 is very nice. Lots of nice 50s out there, buy if prefer Leica color/rendition, bokeh. Nice and cheap.
60/2.8 Macro - blew my 50/2 ZF away and dirt cheap. 1:1 w/ 30mm tube
80 Lux
90/2 pre-APO (budget 80 lux). Leica folks always battle this lens and 80 Lux against one another.
90/2 APO - awesome, but CV 90 as sharp & better CA corrected (he says glancing around nervously)
90/2.8 last version. Faster focusing mini 100 APO, as sharp in center. ELPRO for macro. Photodo rates it 4.6 vs 4.5 for 100 APO. Never should have sold mine ;< Have MTF if want it.
100/APO - of course. Stronger contrast and saturation that is typical for Leica. If you need PERFECT across frame at all apertures, no distortion, this is your lens. Elpro for 1:1
135/2.8 - rep as nice (cheap) portrait lens. Not used it, but suspect Mamiya 150/3.5 would beat it.
180/2.8 APO - God's own 180mm. CV 180 is very close. Focus a little TOO smooth for some folks. Only most current versions will take a 1.4x
180/2 APO - Sigh. 2.8 APO is sharper at 2.8 by a hair. Picture even sharper Nikon 200/2 with APO correction, all metal. buttery manual focus, perfect collar/handgrip.
280/4 APO - Best lens Leica made. Think a 240mm version of 180/2.8 APO that's even sharper.
400mm+ APOs - hide your credit card. Long Nikon's/Canon's would be close, but not APO corrected.

35-70/4 and 80-200/4 Very, very nice, but very fast focusing. Can be easy to mis-focus
70-180/2.8 APO - considered best zoom in that range made. That said, is heavy and costly.
105-280/4.2 - Exceptional long tele zoom. No longer made. Shot it against my 180/2.8 APO and differences were minor. I have MTF chart if anyone wants it.

Prices are all over the map with Ebay worst. That said, when Leica killed R line, these guys http://www.shphoto.de/ bought factory inventory and are selling gear for almost used levels, new with full factory warranty. Leica warranty is global.

昨天我在别的论坛发了类似的帖子，网友给出不少建议，资深莱卡玩家Conner刚才发言，说有些徕卡镜头需要返到厂子里保养，但保养后也会出现特性的变化，空间兄听到这类情况没有？为了更好地理解，我把他刚刚发言的话给粘帖过来。

The 70-180/2.8 APO is a very, very nice lens. Solid and exceptional build quality. Truly prime-equivalent or darn close to it level of zoom. Price as mentioned is roughly $3500-4500. The MTF data is available on pdf from the Leica website.

If you don't need the zoomability, I've owned the 180/2.8 APO and 180/2 APO and, they are knock-outs in their FLs.

The 180/2.8 is a hair sharper than the F2 at 2.8, but it's truly splitting hairs. The CV 180/4 APO and Mamiya 200/2.8 APO (both owned as well) are very, very close in performance. The older Leica 180/3.4 APO is exceptional at or near infinity, but 'drops down' ;> to app. 180/2.8 AiS levels in terms of resolution at near distance - think APO corrected 180/2.8 AiS that gets sharper as distance increases. The Kyocera-based 80-200/4 Leica is also very good.

The 180/2 APO while LARGE (think small torpedo warhead and all metal), is easily handheld due to the integrated tripod-mount/palm rest. Who ever designed that was a genius. Closest you'd get would be an APO corrected AFS 200/2 IS.

I love the lenses, but for those not familiar with Leica glass and thinking of some, a couple of FYIs:

1. If a consideration, you need to watch Leica teles with extenders. Many, due to some #$%^ idiot designer's decision will NOT take a Leica 1.4x APO and may or may not take a Nikon 1.4. They have very little clearance between mount and rear element and any 1.4-1.7x that's lens-side element protrudes JUST enough will not clear. If you want the flex of a 1.4-1.7x, shop carefully, try it with your TC first - or stick with other equivalents.

- On the 180/2.8 APO, only the VERY last versions (should say on box) have the clearance to take a 1.4x. They are tough to find and command a premium. Older ones can be modified by Leica to take the 1.4x, cost is about $500+. Some people find the focus mechanics of the 180/2.8 APO TOO smooth - can be easy to nudge focus off. Price range $1500-2500

- The 180/2 APO will take a 1.4x with no visible degradation in IQ, even WO. With a 2x, I found I had to stop down to 2.8 to get the magic back to where I wanted it. They take drop-in rear filters. US$3200-$4200.

- IIRC the 70-180 will not take a Leica 1.4x APO, no idea on Nikon 1.4x.

2. Leica APO glass, if it needs a CLA (Clean, Lube Adjust), must be returned to Leica in Germany for work due to the tight tolerances, testing gear needed to ensure they are up to spec after any work -- they actually go thru back the assembly line. It can take some time (it will make Nikon service seem VERY fast) and won't be cheap. There have also been some reports of some lens's like the 90/2 Apo Asph coming back from Solms (Germany) cleaner, but having lost some of their pre-CLA sparkle. They don't always get it right the 2nd time around, so sending an APO lens to Leica for a CLA should be done if really needed. Most Leica shops will decline to take apart an APO lens and stay away from any who are willing to - no matter how good with other gear. Also, for resale, most Leica shoppers, if they know am APO or Apo/Asph lens has had a CLA, will ask from who and shy away from ones done outside Leica - or from lenses that need one.

3. Check with the Leitax website before buying. While most Leica R glass can take a Leitax F mount (well made kit BTW), there are some exceptions.
