About me In the year 1977 I recognized in beautiful Bromberg the true light of the world. I spent four years of my childhood living there until I moved to Rheinland and have since lived in the Duesseldorf area. I dedicated the first 28 years of my life to various hobbies( I will not go into depth) until October 2006 when I discovered the personal strength in photography. At first I took basic snap shots and now and again a Photograph. Since the beginning of 2007 I have been seriously interested in the profession of photography. It is amazing to discover and learn how a good photo should be taken... For the last few months and various journeys I have discovered how beutiful photography can be and at the end of the day it remains in the eyes of the person looking at the photo if the pictured will be recognized in a positive manner or not - independent of the quality of single photos. One additional thing that I have recognized is that: The camera is not responsible for the picture but the person who uses the camera and takes the pictures. I can say one thing, photography is actually a lot more than a hobby for my person but it is actually a part of my life! About me i discovered photography a year ago and since then i am fascinated by what an image can convey. the capture of beauty in its many forms and the interaction that a camera creates. I used to live in ※※※※※※ for 3 years where i learnt and taught meditation. since then 7 years passed and i continued to learn and teach. with photography i am attracted to people and spiritual pictures. i am very comfortable with these "holy people" and many times i will spend a few days with them practicing meditation togather. However, i do enjoy taking other photos as well. Equipment used：cannon 30D ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ sadhu ONE OF THE MOST UNIQUE SADHUS I MET IN INDIA. Location：india  Gypsies close to the tourist areas tend to make money with thier music, snake charmers, heena (tatto), and photos. i spent a few weeks at thier camp and joined thier everyday lives. even got to be in a gypsy wedding. the wildest dancing i ever saw in my life, he is one of seven brothers i took thier portraits. all of the brothers have unique faces. notice the gold earing it is a beautiful one. Location：india  moriya is a beautiful gypsy girl i met in india. she is twelve years old with quite a temper and a strong will. absolutely amazing girl. she got married a month afte the picture was taken. the marrige took place but she stays to live with her family untill she is grown enougth to join her husband. i hope to visit her evry time i get to travel to india. she left quite a strong impression on me. Location：india  This boy amazed me with his spirit. he stood there so proud letting the other children look at him as i took hiS photo. his body is suffering but his spirit is as strong as his stand. harsh image but with real human beauty for me.  from the beautiful south of india.  i met her in the desert by the well. simple way of life for the desert dwelleres. they live in straw huts or tents, cook on open fire, and carry thier water to camp.  A nice man who offered me cigerates and then we ended up sitting for an hour togather at the entrance of his house (more like a big room) drinking fruit juice. when we talked at times he disconncted and at other times he smiled and laugthed. i felt bad for him as he seemed lonely even though there was one more man living togather with him. This is one of his quite moments.  will the young generation follow the old ways?  |

Thank you for stopping by my profile. Im humbled and honored to have photos published here amongst such talented photographers. I am hoping to grow significantly from my exposure to so many of them! My style and preference in photography leans more towards classic beauty and soulfully emotive rather than abstract or dark and moody. My Name is Robert Schraven, I am currently living in Dubai and over the past years photography became a serious hobby. I am still very much of a learner with a relatively modest skillset. I shoot mainly street photos and for this reason I do not carry a flash with me. Over the past years I have been working on a photo series about the people who really built Dubai. These are the hundreds of thousands of constructionworkers from India and related areas. For the majority of people living in Dubai they are pretty much invisible and some sort of tribute is due. I find in these people dignity and pride which I try to capture in the images. I look forward to your comments and critiques. With a graceful nod more suitable for an experienced and wise old monk he allowed me to take his photo. darkened the image slightly, increased contrast and cropped it to a tight frame.
