《歌八百壮士》-夏之秋曲

夏之秋和他的《歌八百壮士》 曾立慧     
    1993年5月12日，※※著名音乐教育家、小号专家、作曲家、※※音乐学院夏之秋教授走完了他生命的第81个春秋，去了。他是在海内外※※音乐家携手高歌“20世纪※※音乐经典首季(北京)系列演出活动”中离去的。他当然算幸福的，因为此番高规格的音乐活动，选唱了他的不朽名曲《歌八百壮士》。这一代宗师在“中国不会亡”气壮山河，雄浑激越的号角声中；在“在这个静静的深夜里，记起了我的故乡”那深情委婉的旋律中闭上了眼睛……   

    提起夏之秋，不能不说一说《歌八百壮士》，这首让海内外※※传唱了近60年的名曲曾先后被三次搬上银幕，成为电影插曲。这首1938年诞生于作者故乡武汉的经典作品，最初是独唱曲，第一个演唱者是著名歌唱家周小燕，她是在汉口三教街俄国俱乐部演唱的。之后，夏之秋才将它改为混声四部合唱。去年初冬，我曾在北京夏老师病榻前听他回忆此歌曲的诸多往事时，他说：“1938年，抗日烽火燃遍祖国大地，在这中华民族生死存亡的关头，我从上海回到武汉，参加了武汉市文化界抗敌工作团，并任音乐组组长。我在汉口、武昌各组织了一支专唱抗日救亡歌曲的歌咏队，队员们来自工厂、学校、机关和救亡团体。有一天，我在汉口原华中大学地下※※黄兴学同学家玩，不期遇见桂涛声，在这之前，我们并不相识。黄兴学向桂涛声介绍我说：‘这是我们原物理系同学，他是上海国立音专作曲系的，很会作曲。’当时我们两人并未深谈。过了几天，我在汉口女青年会指挥合唱团排练时，桂涛声来了，他交给我一张纸条，我一看：“中国不会亡，中国不会亡，你看那八百壮士奋守东战场；四方都是炮火，四方都是豺狼，宁愿死不退让……。”好，太好了，歌词里那发自内心的※※热情与我的心情十分吻合，这一下子便感染启发了我。涛声还站在一边问：‘你看合不合用，不行的话你完全可以修改’。我说：‘这歌词太棒了，我会很快地写出来的。’我的旋律真像是从心底自然地涌现出来的，十分得心应手。不几天，便由周小燕演唱了。当时，这歌子便在刘雪庵主编的《战歌》上发表，由我的搞印刷装订的表姐夫找关系印成了歌片。”

    “1940年，中国电影制片厂合唱团在重庆的一次演出中演唱了由我指挥的《歌八百壮士》，张治中将军在台下听后走到后台对我说：‘歌写得很好，你是否能将<中国不会亡>改成<中国一定强>更好些，当然，我是外行，只是建议。’我说‘好啊! 可以这样改。’几天后，我在著名※※人士周苍柏先生家，遇见※※※同志，嚯! 两位周公都是关刀眉! ※※※亲切地提到《歌八百壮士》和《思乡曲》，我便告诉他张治中将军建议改动歌词，周讲：‘好啊! 文伯(张治中字文伯)这个建议也有他的理由。’于是，这首歌曲便有两句不同的歌词，在台湾，如今还是唱的<中国一定强>。我1991年访台时，还和海峡那边的音乐家们，包括湖北同乡会的乡长胡秋原等一起用二个‘版本’同唱过这支歌。”

    今天，一代音乐家去了，为他送行的仍是这震响了半个多世纪的不朽名曲，5月22日，在北京“夏之秋教授追思会”上没奏哀乐，他的海内外知音，他的四五代学生们送他“启程”，伴他远行的仍是那悲壮舒展的《歌八百壮士》和深情委婉的《思乡曲》。就连挽联也是“壮士英名歌八百；宗师遗泽被三科。”而远在台湾的凌峰拍来电报；“椿庭顿寂，风木增悲”。台北湖北同乡会陈浩、胡秋原的“文峰已杳”……这些不尽的哀思，则远远超过音乐友情之外，我相信，他们和先生的故乡人一样，都是沉浸在这不朽的旋律中的了。
