About me
Started rather late with photography. First with slides but soon turned to black and white photography which remains my passion till today. After working almost 20 years in the darkroom i finally made the decision in 2010 to turn to the digital process and i have to admit i don't regret.
Photography is really a fantastic medium and discussing forum !

I recently returned to photography after a 40-year interruption. From 1960 to about 1972 I was an avid picture taker, working exclusively in black and white with a Canon SLR.
The purchase of a Nikon digital SLR in 2007 restarted my photographic journey.

About me
Hello, I am Jan Gravekamp, born in 1960 in the Netherlands. I have done some photography in the past and rediscovered photograpy about a year ago. I have bought myself a Nikon 300D last year November and now developing myself by looking at pictures from others and reading about photography. Over the last months I have found that lines, architecture, streetlife, urban and landscapes have my interest. I try to reflect that in my pictures. I have recently made an upgrade to the Nikon D700 including lenses.
I think this site is very interesting from many points of view. The fact that all pictures are subject to a screening process from the members make the moment that a picture is published very rewarding.\

To the market
Travelling for hours by bus is certantly boring, but not on Vietnam roads!

Swirly Playground
The blue rings in the foreground are jungle-gym bars on playground that I illuminated with an off camera flash. The fiery sparks flying off the tower of the playground are from igniting extremely fine steel wool and spinning it on the end of a rope. Minor editing of white balance and contrast in Photoshop but nothing else!
