---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Left in the Dark Yusef Dorozhko has a sad story. I don't know all the details, but not long ago he lost his wife and his son. Yusef is now alone. He is 81-years-old and lives in a house on the outskirts of a remote village, where he has two cows, a horse, a dog and four cats. He still works on the land and fixes things around the house, which to my amazement still did not have electricity. It seems like the world has forgotten Yusef, but considering his situation he was relatively optimistic and energetic. I was glad to meet him and keep him company. Here images of Jesus are just as common as those of Hindu Gods elsewhere in the country. This man is probably a fisherman (I never found out for sure). He was having his morning tea in a tea shack which I came back to a few times during my stay in Kollam - a town in the South of Kerala. Somehow the devout manage to drink the polluted water and not get seriously sick. It's one of these India mysteries to me. Here a Sadhu is drinking out of a slightly less polluted river - the Narmada (less polluted in comparison to the Ganges and the Yamuna).
